CapScribe: Auto Captions

An iPhone app that turns speech into captions and writes them into your video. Transcription and export both run on the device.

What it does

• Transcribes video and audio you import, on your iPhone
• Writes styled captions into the exported video, so they travel with the file
• Four caption styles: bold outline, caption bar, clean white, classic yellow
• Exports SRT and TXT when you want to finish the job in another editor

Requirements

iOS 26 or later, on iPhone. The first time you use a language, iOS downloads the matching speech model from Apple. After that, transcription runs without a network connection.

Free version and the one-time purchase

The free version handles video up to 90 seconds and audio up to 10 minutes. One purchase removes both limits for good. There is no subscription and no watermark.

If you reinstall the app or set up a new iPhone, open the unlock page and tap Restore Purchase. Your purchase is tied to your Apple Account, so it comes back without paying again.

Getting help

Known limits in version 1.0

• iPhone only. There is no iPad layout yet.
• Portrait orientation only.
• Accuracy depends on Apple's on-device speech model, which varies by language and by how clean the audio is. Editing any word before export is part of the normal workflow.
